We would like your opinion on the following questions: What will be the most interesting questions that chemical biologists will be able to answer in the near future? What will be longer term questions that the community can answer? What limitations need to be overcome to improve the success of the chemical biology enterprise?
I think one area in which chemical biology will have a critical impact is drug discovery. Understanding how biological pathways work and more importantly how to manipulate them will allow researchers to design molecules that can prevent, treat or cure diseases.
Can we develop good ones that are effective treatments for cancer?
Will they have side effects?
Will we be able to produce them in large quantities at low cost?
