Nanomedicine— a concept that encompasses the myriad applications of nanotechnology toward the betterment of human health— has become a high-profile area of research within the chemistry community. Strong enthusiasm for this emerging field was plainly evident in the first “Advances in Nanomedicine” symposium, held in the Fall 2006 ACS National Meeting in San Francisco.
"Advances in Nanomedicine 2008," to be held August 17-19 in the upcoming Fall 2008 ACS National Meeting in Philadelphia, will build on the momentum from the earlier symposium and represent the breadth of current activities in academia and industry in 5 half-day sessions. Many of these topics will also be covered in a special focus issue in the journal Nanomedicine.

Session III (Monday AM): Nanomaterials of Imaging and Biosensing
Session IV (Monday PM): Nanoparticle Pharmacology and Toxicology
