University of California, Los Angeles (Paul S. Weiss Research Group)
Area of Research:
Shelley is developing novel scanning probe spectroscopy methods for obtaining structural information from molecules self-assembled on surfaces. Previously she has used DNA and enzymes as agents for creating discrete inorganic nanocrystal assemblies.
Area of Expertise:
nanomaterial self-assembly and directed assembly, nanocrystal bioconjugation, inorganic nanocrystal synthesis
Biography:
Shelley Claridge is currently a post-doctoral scholar in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles, having moved from The Pennsylvania State University with the Paul S. Weiss Research Group. She obtained her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2008 at the University of California, Berkeley, under the joint direction of Paul Alivisatos and Jean Fréchet. She received undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Biochemistry from Texas A&M University in 1997 and from 1997-2003 she was employed as a software engineer in Texas and in the UK.
