Prof. Kevin F Kelly
Rice University
Area of Research:
Kevin's research group performs cutting-edge imaging research that can be broadly divided into two categories: the scanning probe microscopy group and the optical compressed sensing group. Recently, they have been featured in the news with both the nanocar and the "single-pixel camera." His group uses a little bit of everything - chemistry, physics, materials science, electrical engineering, and even applied mathematics.
Area of Expertise:
scanning probe microscopy, fullerenes, imaging, electron transport
Biography:
Prof. Kelly earned his undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics from the Colorado School of Mines (1993) and his graduate degrees in Applied Physics from Rice University (1996, 1999) in the lab of Naomi Halas. After a successful post-doc in Japan with Toshio Sakurai and at Penn State with Paul Weiss, he returned to Rice in 2002 as a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
